RE Rowe's VOICES released in February and with the follow up WHISPERS coming out later this Spring, I want to give you a sneak peek into the first chapter of VOICES...
Forty-three minutes without a heartbeat—a little longer than a
sitcom. About the time it takes for first period at Theodore High. It’d been
five years since I’d seen Grams. She looked amazingly happy, considering she
After waking up from heart surgery, the
first words I uttered in the recovery room were “Did my team win?”
“Miracle, miracle,” a nurse whispered. I
guess she thought I’d have brain damage.
Another nurse cried. A male nurse asked me
if I’d experienced anything strange. He said some patients have what they call
a “Near-Death-Experience”—NDE for short. After all, I’d been officially
pronounced dead before the doctors brought me back to life.
I told him, “No, nothing worth mentioning.”
Lying was easier than telling the truth. There’s no way I’ll ever talk to
anyone about those forty-three minutes—especially not Mom or her boyfriend,
Hank. What would I tell them? “Hey, remember when I was dead? Well, I hung out
with Grams on a bright day at Uncle Pete’s pond.”
Not a chance. I’d get tagged a wacko and
locked up at Willowgate, just like the crazy kid from school.
The nurses told me it’d been a miracle that
I had survived with only chest compressions until I arrived at the ER. I
agreed, of course, but I knew different. Grams had said, “It’s your choice, dear. Stay here or return.”
Being a track star and honor student, I
wanted to return.

Aimee struggles to find her way after spending time with a deceased grandmother during a near death experience. When they stumble upon a century-old storm cellar hidden underground on Aimee’s uncle’s ranch, they unearth a cellar full of artifacts and a hundred-year-old Will. Once the news of the discovery leaks out, a drug-dealing teen and a mysterious soul named General are determined to bury the truth along with anyone who gets in their way.

This week I've got a very special list of songs from Author Caroline Batten for TUESDAYS TUNES... This soundtrack list comes from Caroline's new novel NEARLY ALMOST SOMEBODY and includes some of personal favorites!! Enjoy!!
Caroline Batten is the author of #Forfeit and Nearly Almost Somebody, contemporary romances she likes to call
“Chick Lit with Edge” – forget shoe-shopping and cupcakes, expect binge

So let's see what Caroline has to say about herself...

That would be the Jill with the

DEAREST CLEMENTINE Dearest #1 - Clementine & Gavin by Lex Martin
Twenty-year-old Clementine Avery doesn't mind being called bitchy and closed off. It's safe, and after being burned by her high school sweetheart and stalked by a professor her freshman year of college, safe sounds pretty damn good.
Her number one rule for survival? No dating. That is until she accidentally signs up for a romance writing class and needs material for her latest assignment. Sexy RA Gavin Murphy is more than happy to play the part of book boyfriend to help Clem find some inspiration, even if that means making out...in the name of research, of course.
As Gavin and Clem grow closer, they get entangled in the mystery surrounding a missing Boston University student, and Clem unwittingly becomes a possible target. Gavin tries to show Clem she can handle falling in love again, but she knows she has to be careful because her heart’s at stake…and maybe even her life.
FINDING DANDELION Dearest #2 - Jax and Dani by Lex Martin
When soccer all-star Jax Avery collides with Dani Hart on his twenty-first birthday, their connection is instantaneous and explosive. For the first time in years, Jax isn’t interested in his usual hit-it and quit-it approach.
But Dani knows better. Allowing herself a night to be carefree and feel the intensity of their attraction won’t change anything when it comes to dealing with a player. So when Jax doesn’t recognize Dani the next time he sees her, it shouldn’t be a total shock. The fact that he’s her new roommate's brother? That’s a shock.
Dani doesn’t regret that night with Jax, just the need to lie about it. Since her roommate has made it clear what she thinks about her brother’s “type” of girl, the last thing Dani wants is to admit what happened.
Jax knows he’s walking a fine line on the soccer team. One more misstep and he’s off the roster, his plans to go pro be damned. Except he can’t seem to care. About anything… except for the one girl who keeps invading his dreams.
Despite Jax’s fuzzy memory of his hot hookup with his sister’s friend, he can’t stay away from her, even if it means breaking his own rules. But there are bigger forces at work–realities that can end Dani’s college career and lies that can tear them apart.
Jax realizes what he’s losing if Dani walks away, but will he sacrifice his future to be with her? And will she let him if he does?
What’s the worst thing about wanting a sexy NFL football player? Everyone else wants him, too.
After catching my boyfriend getting deep-throated by a skanky cage girl, I’ve learned my lesson – never date a professional athlete. Never. Besides, I have more important things to worry about, like not blowing my shot to make it as a broadcast reporter. I won’t let anything get in my way, not even the new “it boy” of the NFL and my hot- as-hell neighbor.
What's the worst thing about getting death glares from his new neighbor? It doesn't make him want her any less.
I’ve worked my ass off to make it to the pros. The last thing I need is the complication of a relationship, especially since my last one was a total train wreck. But I can’t stop thinking about the feisty girl next door with the smart mouth. And I’d love nothing more than to show her what to do with that mouth.
Friends with benefits might be the best idea he’s ever had. Or the worst.
Kissing Madeline is a companion novel to DEAREST CLEMENTINE and FINDING DANDELION. Each book is a stand-alone.
About the Author Lex Martin writes new adult novels, the sexy kind with lotsa angst, a whole lotta kissing, and the hot happily ever afters. When she's not writing, she lives a parallel life as an English teacher. She loves printing black and white photos, listening to music on vinyl, and getting lost in a great book. Bitten by wanderlust, she's lived all over the country but currently resides in the City of Angels with her husband and twin daughters.

He approached the chair beside my bed and dropped down into
it, keeping his eyes trained on mine. “Hi?” A devious smirk tipped his lips as he placed the bag on the
floor and lowered my tray table in the space between us. He reached inside the
crinkly bag, letting his hand linger. I’d give him props. He definitely knew
how to pique my curiosity. His hand slid out grasping a shot glass. His eyes
stayed on mine as he placed it on the empty tray table in front of him. Then he
reached back in and pulled out a second glass. “Thirsty?”
A slow sexy smile skated across his lips as he slid the
glass across the table in front of me. But he wasn’t done. He reached back in
the bag and pulled out a full bottle of vodka.
“Seriously?” I laughed.
He nodded. “You scared?” “Scared I’m gonna drink you under the table.”
He threw back his head and let loose a shoulder shaking laugh.
So carefree. So comfortable. So unbelievably breathtaking.
But once it continued much longer than necessary, I crossed
my arms over the UNC printed on my powder-blue T-shirt. “Are we playing a game
or just trying to get sloppy drunk?”
His laughter subsided as he dug into his pocket and pulled
out a quarter, holding it up so the fluorescent lights in my room reflected off
“So, we’re wagering?”
He nodded. “And with the pain meds getting the liquor to
your head quicker, you being drunk off your ass is just an added bonus.”
I swallowed down. Hard. “Now if I win…” He twisted his lips like he really needed to
consider the stakes. “I get to give you a sponge bath.”
He said it so matter-of-factly, it threw me for a loop. Then
again, it seemed like a win-win for me.
“If you win,” he continued. “You give me a sponge bath.”
“Who said I’d want to give you a sponge bath?” I totally did. “Seriously? Have you seen me?”
I almost choked on the arrogance floating around the room.
But in all honesty, I liked it. Too much. A guy who knew who he was and what he
wanted turned me on. It’s what I was drawn to. What I normally sought out. I
nodded toward the vodka. “Where’d you get it?”
“My buddy Avery smuggled it in.”
“All in an effort to get me drunk?” His smile spread wide. “All in an effort to get you drunk and give you a sponge bath.” “Ever think of just asking?” ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
